I'm not sure what to do with it. I hate the term shipping, because of this very reason.
Fight smart, not fair.Jump Ship (as in Jumping Ship)? Shipping Disaster?

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.How about something that isn't a commonly used term for something else, which both Shipping Disaster and Jump Ship or Jumping Ship are.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.We could just turn it around and call it Ship Abandonment. Same general idea, but far less likely to be potholed inappropriately.
Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.Well, Madrugada, that's what half of the shipping tropes are. If the original term isn't in common usage for its preexistant meaning, the damage caused by the pun is minimal.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.I could get behind Ship Abandonment.
Fight smart, not fair.I just had to take out an incorrect wick that was in the "Not to be confused with..." section on Ejector Seat.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.We had the same problem with Going Down with the Ship if I remember correctly. I get why the shipping tropes tried to make bad puns, but a lot of times people seem to think that witty is calling something by what sounds like the name of a completely different trope.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI suppose Abandon Shipping might work.
Very good point, Deboss.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickOne of the many reasons I dislike the term "shipping". I think I mentioned that before.
Fight smart, not fair.I also like Abandon Shipping.
Nice.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Abandon Shipping seems good.
Shall we start a crowner? I think we have enough proposed titles by now.
This space for rent. Cost: your soul.Crowner hooked, add the options.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Done.
This space for rent. Cost: your soul.Abandon Ship is a Stock Phrase, isn't it? In that case, it pretty much has to go the new trope.

Unfortunately it seems to be an established term, or else I would support renaming it.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. We have a clear winner (Abandon Shipping), so I've done the move and I'm going through and wick-cleaning.

Crown Description:
Guess That Trope!
Abandon Ship is currently being used as the title for a shipping page. Discovered when this YKTTW had to title their proposed trope about actually abandoning ship "Get to the Lifeboats". There's some misuse — Ejection Seat, Escape Pod — and most of the ones where it is used properly are either deliberately warning against taking it literally (Drop Ship, Saharan Shipwreck) or are off the beaten path, so to speak (stuff like I Thought It Meant, entries in Most Triumphant Example and Die for Our Ship namespaces, crossreferenced in other shipping pages, listed in Troper pages, etc).
I'll also admit that I think that a "real" trope should get priority over a shipping page for a clear and intuitive title, but it probably qualifies for a rename on its own anyway.
