It's kind of hard for me to feel happy about this when half of you don't have PS3s.

I'll be buying this even if I werent planning on getting a PS 3 soonish  *

. I assume whether or not Namco will actually restart localizing the series will be dependent on how much this one sells. Now all I need is a release date so I can preorder.

Yeah, we Wii owners are really raining on these splendid news.

A new Tales game localized! One can only hope they keep it up.

I blame Namco-Bandai for constantly jumping around the different consoles for no explicable reason. Given that the director's cut versions always end up on the Playstation anyway, it would probably be less cruel of them to stick to one console and not raise people's hopes only to crush them later.

Well, since Xillia will be on the PS 3, maybe they are sticking to one system now.

I also own both a Wii and a PS 3 so it doesn't make much of a difference to me.

Chances are, I'm not actually wearing any pants right now.

The do love their Playstations... There's far better chances of getting any Tales game on those consoles.

@ Enlong, T-T is a crying face, T_T is the face when I'm in different or sarcastic.

Back on topic....

A POX ON THE PS 3!

Anyhow good for you all, getting your new shiny tales game. Us lowly Wii owners understand, it's for the greater good.

The proper use of the T_T is a very complex matter.

Though I do prefer the TT_TT for crying.

Anyway... I might end up buying To GF on the Playstation 3 just to go play it on my friend's house on weekends... and then have him hate me. Still To GF is good enough to lose the oldest friendship I have...

I don't have a PS 3 myself, but I want to get one when I get some money again. If I have to buy the game before I buy the system, so be it.

In other news I beat Tales of the Abyss today. That was a fun game. A few things that are confusing me though -

  • What is this character derailment people bitch about Luke getting in the 3rd act? Everything seemed to flow pretty well.
  • Why do people think who walked towards the party at the end was ambiguous? It was obviously Luke. Like Asch could smile like that.

I dont think any of my friends have ps3's either...ah well. I'll still buy it, to support future games, and to play it eventually.

...Really? No one's gotten to it yet? Alright, I'll do it:

Honestly, I understand being disappointed that it's not coming to the Wii, but fuck, at least it's leaving Japan at all! After nearly three years and five Tales games that got No Export for You, thank fuck one is finally breaking the trend.

Hey I agree. This is a good thing after all. Although I am one of those Wii owners who was looking forward to the original version, a new tales game is good news.

It's just, it's kind of a Steel toed boot right to the balls of every person who wanted to play it on wii. If they were going to make a better version anyway, why bother making the Wii version. More to the point, why didn't put the stuff in the Wii version that ended up in Graces F.

Still, more Tales in the west is never bad. It's just a little bittersweet for some.

Sure, I get that. I got burned by Tales of Vesperia 360 (which is still my most favorite game of this generation, so no harm no foul). I'm just really glad the bone has been thrown here, and would be even if I didn't have a PS3, considering how completely up in the air the future of Tales outside of Japan was.

What I don't like is the possibility that ToGF doesn't sell well enough on the PS 3 to convince the suits to keep sending Tales our way. Now, it might very well be that it will sell fine. But given the platforms' relative market share, releasing it on the Wii would have been a safe bet, and they'd have had plenty of English voice acting done in advance to handle the PS 3 release.

Up yours, Namdai. I'm glad you're releasing it here, and I don't begrudge the PS 3 owners their enjoyment, but really, up yours.

Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.

That's what I was thinking about. I may have my information wrong, I think they love the Playstation in Japan, but the Wii is the console with most sales in the West, while the Playstation 3 hasn't done so well in comparison.

If they are unsure of how well it might do in the West, why not go for safe on the Wii?

Tis a shame they can't go multiplatform. It would eliminate that problem, and everyone would get a shot.

But they always go for the one that will earn them the most money. Not that that's not good business.

It all depends on how they market it. Considering Tales's history, even a cardboard stand and a poster in the Gamestop window would be miles beyond what they've done before.

It might also — though I admit this is extremely optimistic — benefit from taking a "the Playstation is the king of RPGs" angle to the marketing as well. Or just, y'know, forecast sales probably around the PS3 version of Eternal Sonata...

Though being the king of (j)rpgs doesn't say a whole lot this generation, if you exclude the portables at least.

Y'know what, I don't care whether the owner of the local Play N Trade wants a trailer type deal with Tales of Graces in it, but I'm gonna shove some gameplay in there anyway to help advertise it.

Interestingly, according to this article, Namco Bandai is actually still working out what system(s) they'll release it on. Wii owners may still have hope after all.

Since I have neither system I actually find the PS 3 one more interesting, since that is supposed to have extra story and gameplay and better graphics.

The interesting thing is that it's confirmed as TOG F, but the system remains unconfirmed. Which leads me to believe that if it is released on the Wii, that it'll have the extras added to the PS 3 Mix.

Minus the slightly better graphics, of course.

I have a message from another time...
