Wrote this 7/8 dancey song a few months ago. I can't quite sing as high as I wrote the vocals, but whatever.

Back when I had a ccomp capable of using VS Ts without choking, I made some stuff, none of it very good, but hell it was fun. Trying to get into Milky Tracker now, and I have some hardware (Micro KORG, Yamaha DX 200, Korg M 3 R, BOSS DR-550MKII) that I'm trying to make 80's club with (still need a sampler and sequencer, and not that Chromeo/Daft Punk/Calvin retraeux crap either, some right old 80's club, like italo).

if you really really really wanna hear my lame crap from back in the day, http://www.soundclick.com/zerodiffuze .

Oh yes, and a few months ago, I recorded myself messing around over a few chords:

Bearing in mind that my knowledge of musical theory back then was precisely nothing other than 'play some notes together and that makes a chord!', and that the whole thing is done on a MIDI keyboard when I am really bad at the keyboard, and suddenly it's not bad, although not a patch on the things I write now. But since my brother moved out I have no recording facility now. ._.

Just finished a new song, the first under the name of my new project Galactic North. The song will function as the first single from the album I'm working on.

Give it a listen at my bandcamp: http://galacticnorth.bandcamp.com/

If you like it, please consider buying it for 99 cents, or more if you're feeling particularly generous!grin

I've finally started playing around with a tracker, but I'm not sure how much I'll actually do with it, at this point. It'll be a while before I can do more than a really simple rendition of Popcorn, so the first thing it'll probably get used for is doing some game music.

Is anyone here familiar with Milky Tracker by any chance? And if so, any good sources for how to use it, how to set up the order for internal repeats or anything more complicated than "this is your script of patterns, play it"? The manual is very unhelpful.

Sakamoto demands an explanation for this shit.

I've got a week to finish my RPM thing and I've got one finished song and 3 unfinished ones. I think I can do it though. Oh yeah, this is the song in question. Other than the drum machine beat there are no "normal" instruments in there - the main sounds were originally my voice, a beer bottle being blown into, and a glass being tapped with a nail clipper.

Skilled saxophonist and decent vocalist. Currently trying to master the piano. Unfortunately, I don't have decent recording equipment, so all you get to hear is one of the Touhou arrangements I made on a trial version of Finale Notepad.

What kind of sax do you prefer to play? I mostly play the tenor these days, although I did my exams on the alto.

Alto. I've played on Tenor for a few gigs, but that was only for a few months, and I don't have one now anyways.

This Too Is A Mystery sounds familiar.

Not long left for RPM but only have a few more tracks to do so I just have to get my rocket skates on. I've completed my seven-minute title track so that's all good.

In other news, my band has a gig in a few weeks so our frontman has to literally write vocal parts for like our entire set in a painfully short space of time. It's a non-metal crowd though, so there's no pressure to impress anybody.

Because I choose to.

Bahaha, the irony of that statement is that the lyrics I write are all me talking bollocks about Eastern spirituality and Descartes-style idealism and other wannabe-intellectual shite like that (luckily our singer writes more grounded stuff that better lends itself to fist-pumping anthemic choruses and the like).

I only finished two songs for my RPM album and the due date is looming, but I came up with a wonderful stupid idea: Instead of writing 8 more songs in 2 days, I am going to remix the two songs I've already finished four times each. I can claim to be inspired by the second side of Neu! 2 rather than outright procrastination. Also, all the remixes are going to be titled with anagrams.

Didn't finish RPM on the dot, but the album is pretty much done now, so I got what I wanted out of the deal. Will do it again next year, and try something very different most likely.
