The Daleks exist because Davros is nucking futs. Granted the Kaleds were already pretty fashy but in a more human means. Daleks are kind of an in-universe flanderizing of the Kaled mindset
I've had this mindset that if Davros was never a thing the Kaleds would become the equivalent of Cybermen instead in order to survive their blasted wasteland of the planet.
Considering that the sociopolical climate on Skaro was already pretty ethnonationalist, under that theory you could probably make the claim that the Kaleds would specifically become '80s Cybermen, what with the latter's pride, rage, and egocentrism (the show seemed to throw out the whole Emotion Suppression thing during that decade).
Be kind. With Thirteen's era coming to an end, what are considered to be her best episodes?
The Power of the Doctor is probably her best story for me, but I also love
- The Witchfinders
- Demons of the Punjab
- Praxeus
- Nicola Tesla's Night of Terror
- Revolution of the Daleks
- Village of the Angels
- It takes you away
Surprised the episode with Rosa Parks isn't on there

New theme music also a boxIMO, the villain really hurts that one. If you think about it, you end up with an incredibly pessimistic view of the far future.
Not Three Laws compliant.I don't like the revisionist history the Rosa Parks episode presents. The incident wasn't an accident it was planned extencivly and none of the activists would have needed the doctor to fix the issue the episode presented them with.
Looks like Gatwa will have one companion and they will be unveiled on Children in need. (BBC link)
That's disappointing. Chibnall had too many companions for his own good, but sticking to one feels limiting. Two is the perfect sweet spot.
Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundI feel like one companion in your first season works well; more time to establish the doctor's character, but a second getting introduced in your second season allows you to do more.
I could have sworn that we already knew who Gatwa's companion was going to be. A character named Rose. Or am I getting my announcements confused?
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadRose (a new one) I think is going to be a supporting character in Tennant-as-Fourteen's specials next year?
Like I kinda get it. Chibnall stacked so many in that it become impossible to develop everybody that they ended up ditching people. But like I feel two at least could work.
@ Village of the angels: I like this episode but it also has no business being in that mini series. It has barely anything to do with what's going on and isn't even brought again. In a season where they were rushing for time and got overwhelmed by the amount of stuff happening they should have just focused exclusively on the flux stuff.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I love the premis of the episode, angels are after a fugative hiding in the mind's eye of a human, who they've trapped in a village of their own making,
But not much is actually done with that. Despite setting up the village fifty years earlier, the angels hadn't done much to make it a weird and interesting village trap.
But dang the psychiatrist is such a good character. And also setting the drawing of the angel on fire was great.
I agree, the concept is great, it could make a really good story BUT it doesn't work very well plastered into the middle of the Flux stuff.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Well, we found out more about the companion. Her name is Ruby Sunday (or is it Sundae) and she’s played by Millie Gibson.
A Coronation Street actress, just 18 years old.

Press release says it's spelled "Sunday".
Coming Spring 2024, it's the Battle of the Millies!
Speaking of, I just found out that she was born in 2004. This makes her younger than me for the first time, which is a very disconcerting experience.
We're getting close to the point where we can have a lead actor born after the revived show began.
Not Three Laws compliant.Village of the Angels was easily in the top 3 episodes of Chibnall's run. It was just a good episode of the show y'know.
In the end, though, it suffers most from the Flux season as a whole culminating in nothing. It was a fantastic episode of the show that added towards some grand climax, but that grand climax never came and it retroactively hurts the episode.
Come sail your ships around me, and burn your bridges down. Please don't post videos or links without context.
Macron's notesIncoming Doctor Ncuti Gatwa interviews Millie Gibson, the actress who will be playing his companion. I haven't watched the video for myself in full yet so I can't comment on what's in it beyond a bit where Millie says she watched DW with her dad.

Huh, I didn't think of it that way, thank you for that insight.
