This is the thread for discussion of The Order of the Stick plot, characters, etc. We have a separate thread for discussing game rules and mechanics. Excessive rules discussions here may be thumped as off-topic.

It can be, but not necessarily (that would be Decon-Recon Switch). It can be a response to deconstructions in other works if said deconstructions have become so commonplace that they have become a genre in and of themselves.
And I wouldn't say it's a deconstruction of a deconstruction. It's Exactly What It Says on the Tin — you're rebuilding something that was taken apart (whether by you or by others) into something hopefully better.
The Reconstruction page has a pretty apt illustration of the Decon -> Recon process as seen with the superhero genre.

Disgusted, but not surprisedDeconstruction: "Here are one or more not always explored scenarios that could occur from this trope being played straight, and how it may cause the story as we know it to fall apart."
Reconstruction: "Taking those scenarios into account, we will build the story back so that it fits together again."
Deconstruction: They play the Loveable Rogue and use you until they don't need you. Then you get so inevitably stabbed by the selfish, opportunistic backstab that it's pretty much a TPK. No friendship is magic; no just kidding; no redemption arc for the "rogue": the heroes got got by a SOB being a SOB along very predicable lines. And, said SOB gets away with it and even benefits from it, because the opportunity they stabbed their Meal Ticket for was a real one.
Reconstruction: The SOB eventually winds up being ganged-up-upon and stomped by other people both appalled at how backstabbed most of the heroes were, but also rather worried that they'll be next on the list of stabbees. On top that, stabbing their way to the top didn't necessarily mean managerial skills, and everybody is sick of the resulting messes: they all join up with any remaining heroes and end SOB's time at the top. It would have paid the bad guy more in the long term to keep their original group of good guys around for cover, after all.

Grrrr, TV Tropes arbitrary re-definition of "deconstruction" which doesnt correspond to how the rest of the world understands the term... /rant.

Feel free to bring it up with whoever handles trope naming.
Disgusted, but not surprisedBeen there, done that, its not going to change now. Mind you, realism is a legitimate critical stance, I just wish they had called it something other than "deconstruction."
I don't know, that sounds like the kind of "deconstruction-of-a-deconstruction" people were just arguing wasn't the definition of reconstruction.
At the end of the day a reconstruction should still be playing the trope straight, it's just acknowledged a few of the trope's (potential) flaws along the journey.

Both deconstruction and reconstruction play the trope straight. In a deconstruction the result is the opposite that we are used to due to Reality Ensues, while in a reconstruction the result is the same as originally despite Reality Ensues.
The universe is under no obligation to make sense to us.See also your library or Google on Deconstruction. Look up:Derrida,Foucault, etc.
"We are just like Irregular Data. And that applies to you too, Ri CO. And as for you, Player... your job is to correct Irregular Data."Actually, dont. That way lies madness.
I have so many questions, and so few that I want answered.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Well, that explains how the IFCC didn't already know about the gates, among other things.
Angel-toad mpreg. Keep it Classy, Burlew
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youI mean, that's just how slaadi reproduce.
If that's Hilgya resurrecting him, Durkon probably won't stay alive for long.
Spiral out, keep going.Last panel was very weird.
Anyway, Durkon is lucky he had a quicker revive than Roy.
One Strip! One Strip!I wonder how much time has passed. I expect the Order to be up and moving, but have they taken care of the lesser vampires? Probably not given Durkon's words back when this whole Visit With Thor started, implying that Roy will need Durkon's help to beat the Exarch's traps.
Once he has it, though, it might not be worth spending much panel space on. Durkon's vampire memories should solve the problem lickety-split.
I'd assume that they've cleaned up the remaining Vampires in the room, but probably not the Exarch, who they might not even realize is still an issue.
Last two panels.
I hope updates will speed up now that the plot starts running again.
The universe is under no obligation to make sense to us.Ah. The infamous Slaadi turnaround time... <shivers>
Um. I guess an angelic being counts as a high-end caster, right? Soooo, the little guy was green?
Aren't slaadi copyrighted though? I thought nothing copy righted shows up in this comic besides for short jokes
He didn't actually use the word "slaad" and given the art style, his design for it isn't close enough to offical slaad art to arouse the wrath of the spooky wizard who lives on the coast.
The reconstruction is basically the deconstruction of the deconstruction, right?
The universe is under no obligation to make sense to us.
