- Crosses the Line Twice: Nelson attempts to take a pumpkin hostage, and is horrified when The Grand Pumpkin reveals he's quite the racist. Cue the Pumpkin's counter-statement and Nelson's not-quite dying declaration that he'd rather die than hate. Then there's the Grand Pumpkin's last words: "Pumpkin segregation forever..."
- Hilarious in Hindsight: Lisa saying she's not dressed as a witch but as a Wiccan. A later episode has her befriend actual Wiccans.
- Nightmare Fuel:
- The murder of Prince note certainly qualifies, being far less comedic than the murders of George Clooney and Neil Armstrong (so much so that the scene was cut in the UK). Krusty's death in the beginning is also less than pleasant, being knocked into a woodchipper, which chews him up while he futilely tries to escape.
- After Bart unwittingly reveals that humans eat turkeys, Tom Turkey takes revenge by eating the kids. Unlike The Grand Pumpkin, he has a working digestive tract.
- Suspiciously Similar Song: During the scenes in the pumpkin patch, a sound-alike of Vince Guaraldi's "Great Pumpkin Waltz" plays a couple of times. Which is unusual, given that the production staff was given permission to use some of Vince Guaraldi's actual Peanuts music, in examples of averting this trope (most notably "Linus and Lucy" during the opening sequence, and "Christmas is Coming" when the kids (and Kang and Kodos) are dancing ala A Charlie Brown Christmas at the school Halloween party).
