YMMV / The Out-of-Towners

  • Director Displacement: Home video releases of the film have generally tended to play up the name of writer Neil Simon, while making little-to-no mention of the actual director, Arthur Hiller.
  • Unintentional Period Piece: Filming took place in 1969 and it was released in 1970, so the movie has a very dated look and feel to it. In addition to the hairstyles and clothing, there are other extinct bits of American culture in the movie such as people smoking indoors in public places, and the complete lack of any kind of security at the airport and train station.
