Trivia / The Out-of-Towners

  • Completely Different Title: In Spanish, the film is known in Spain as Los encantos de la gran ciudad ("The Charms of the Big City") and in Mexico and Argentina as Forasteros en Nueva York ("Outsiders in New York").
  • Re-Release Soundtrack: Some of the newer DVD copies and torrents of the movie have a different soundtrack for the opening credits. The original by Quincy Jones is tough to find anywhere other than an old VHS copy.
  • Technology Marches On: It is almost jarring to see the characters getting onto a commercial airliner simply by walking up a set of stairs to the plane, with no security measures whatsoever. This was typical for air travel at the time, especially previous to events like the Lockerbie bombing in 1988. The hijacking at the end of the movie accurately depicts how easily people could take advantage of this, and how airport security would eventually start changing into what it is today.
