YMMV / The Neighbors (2015)

  • Aluminum Christmas Trees: The Tommy Wiseau-brand underwear the characters wear is often taken to be a Bland-Name Product of Tommy Hilfiger underwear. In fact, Wiseau really does have his own underwear brand, so it's more of a Product Placement.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: In episode four, confused Fidel Castro enters Troy's apartment, apologizes and leaves. No one ever brings this up again.
    Troy: Was that Fidel Castro?
    Ricky Rick: What a dickhead!
    • And, of course, there is this scene where Princess Penelope and Cici encounter an unknown streaker in the hallway. The only consequence is Princess lampshading that this place is crazy.
  • Bile Fascination: Much like with The Room (2003), it has to be seen to be believed.
  • Broken Base: For The Room fans, some think that it's humorous in its own way while others believe that it's so bad as to be unwatchable, even for a Wiseau work.
  • So Bad, It Was Better: Unlike with The Room, Tommy was actually going for a somewhat campy and silly vibe on purpose, but managed to fail at that too, giving it a whole new layer of bad.
  • Special Effects Failure: In the sixth episode, "Triple Vanilla Sex", when Ricky Rick lifts up his shirt, although it's for a split second, you can see that a image of someone else's well-toned abs has been poorly CGI'ed over his own.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Considering that the 2007 Neighbors condensed three episode plots from 2015 Neighbors into one somewhat coherent pilot episode, Wiseau arguably dropped the ball in the remake.
  • Values Dissonance: Tommy Wiseau expected this to be a sitcom on American TV networks, despite the many uncensored F-Bombs dropped (On American television, the F-word tends to get bleeped out). This could also be due to Tommy being a bit....weird "upstairs".
