• Aluminum Christmas Trees:
  • While it's a little more well-known nowadays, the fact that Project Stargate, mentioned in orientation protocols, was real and really did investigate Psychic Powers for the US Government can still take people by surprise.
  • Commentators have found Jim randomly picking up a dead rat at night only to find a tape inside it to be bizarre. This is a very real technique used by spies to pass information since most people would prefer not to touch an animal carcass.
• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: During back to normal, when the video starts to glitch out, it randomly cuts to an infant pair of conjoined twins crying before cutting back to Don Wright's news report.
  • The end of Tape 012 - TF-2: Waking Your Subconscious shows that this might not be the case, as Charlotte Melgren, a woman who goes to investigate a disturbance in the dog shelter she owns, is horrifically fused together with several of her dogs after an encounter with a tall, humanoid thoughtform.
• Nausea Fuel: The Facial Horror the series is best known for is incredibly detailed, to the point of being downright disconcerting to watch.
  • In the climax TF-2: Waking Your Subconscious the investigators and the audience discover what happened to Charlotte where she is not only mutated and mangled but also has her organs fused to three or four skinless mutated dogs. Definitely the most sickening example of Body Horror in the series thus far.
• Signature Scene:
  • The photos of malformed miners from old odd ends have become something of calling card for the series, as it's what most YouTubers covering it put in their thumbnails.
  • A worthy contender is the image of Don Wright's facial horror from back to normal also being frequently used for thumbnails along with the image for this entry's page.
• Special Effects Failure: So much of Greylock is done so well, but there are some moments that stick out.
  • "Katie's" hand at the end of trojan technology is clearly of an adult rather than a child.
  • The scene where Tiffany busts out of the morgue locker is clearly computer generated and looks like a cutscene from a mid-90s FMV game.
