• Les Yay: In-universe. Jacy and Karla get along so well that rumors start spreading that they're in a relationship.
• Sequelitis: Got some rave reviews (most notably from Roger Ebert), but the consensus opinion was that it was So Okay, It's Average and lacked the sublime quality of The Last Picture Show.
• The Woobie: Sonny, who closed out the first film as a bit of a Jerkass Woobie, is more sympathetic and more screwed up here. Fridge Brilliance, because not only did he take over Sam the Lion's businesses from The Last Picture Show, he's had a troubled life just like Sam did.
