- Captain Obvious Reveal: The identity of the mole in Black Squadron is pretty easy to guess: Oddy Muva is the only member who has not appeared in any previously released media.
- Love to Hate: Agent Terex. To give an idea of his popularity, in the mobile game Star Wars: Force Arena, he's one of only three comics-exclusive characters available (alongside Doctor Aphra and Evaan Verlaine).
- Tear Jerker: In issue #14, Leia expresses the fear that she won't live to see the Resistance defeat the First Order, possibly a reference to Carrie Fisher's recent death.
- Unexpected Character: Mr. Bones shows up in issue 13.
