YMMV / Regular Show S2E2 "It's Time"

  • Broken Base: People are divided on who was wrong in this episode. Some say it's Mordecai for letting his jealousy get the best of him, avoiding a easy solution in just admitting he was jealous of Rigby flirting with Margaret, and killing Rigby out of rage (albeit accidentally) when the latter kept ranting at him in the space vortex. Others hate how Rigby made his best friend jealous, took his crush out on a date, and kept rubbing it into Mordecai's face all out of spite for him wanting to take Margaret out on a date instead of going to see a movie with Rigby, making some people think he somewhat deserved getting killed for being such a petty jerk throughout the episode. And then there are those who think both of them are wrong: Mordecai should've controlled his jealousness and anger better and Rigby was being an asshole.
  • Catharsis Factor: Horrifying as it was, Rigby's death can be rather rewarding given how callously he treated Mordecai up until that point.
  • Never Live It Down: Both Mordecai and Rigby:
    • Mordecai pushing Rigby off the microwave to his death. It was especially the most prominent example used in the "Mordecai's a simp" trend.
    • Rigby tormenting Mordecai by asking Margaret out on a date in front him will also not be forgotten by fans, even if Rigby Took a Level in Kindness later the series.
  • Signature Scene: Mordecai accidentally killing Rigby by shoving him off the microwave into the space vortex.
  • Unintentionally Sympathetic: Even though the whole plot could've been stopped if Mordecai just admitted that he was jealous of Rigby flirting with Margaret, you have to feel some empathy for the guy whose best friend keeps deliberately provoking him just because he wanted to try to go on a date with a girl he likes instead of seeing a zombie movie with him. Not helping is Rigby asking Margaret on a date in front of Mordecai and bragging about to him for hours. All because Mordecai didn't want to admit that he was jealous.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Rigby is meant to be seen as justified for telling off Mordecai for not being able to talk to Margaret and refusing to see a movie with him, except he comes off as a petty jerk for continuously rubbing it into Mordecai's face, even when the latter was slowly reaching his boiling point. Though it was wrong of Mordecai to kill him (albeit unintentionally), he still comes off as an Asshole Victim given his unreasonable actions beforehand. Not only that, but Rigby shoved Mordecai first when they were fighting in the vortex.
