YMMV / Project Arrhythmia

Go To

  • Accidental Innuendo: The game displays your previous rank and new rank in a level’s Score Screen if you improved. Some combinations result in one, such as A->SS and later S->EXC once the “Excellent” rank was added.
  • Fandom Rivalry: Initially with Just Shapes & Beats, due to both games having virtually identical gameplay concepts of bullet-hells where attacks sync to music. This was at its highest when Project Arrhythmia first released on Steam, but has largely died down since.
  • Fandom VIP: Generally applicable to the creators of custom level collections that become popular on YouTube. The biggest example is ol666, who made the Black Heart series of custom levels. It has millions of views on several videos, and is popular enough to be confused with the base game - occasionally, ol666 has been incorrectly credited for Project Arrhythmia itself.
  • Fan Nickname: The nanobot player is often referred to as "Hal" despite the fact that Hal already exists as a separate character - the supercomputer training the nanobots. Despite Word of God clarifying the difference and naming the player "Nano" to better differentiate the two, they're still often called Hal due to the large amount of custom levels referring to them as such.
  • Friendly Fandoms:
    • With Geometry Dash, another music game with an emphasis on custom levels. Both game's editors have been used to create levels inspired by or recreating the other, and there's some overlap in song choices for custom levels between the two.
    • The aforementioned rivalry with Just Shapes & Beats grew into this over time. As Just Shapes and Beats lacks a level editor and its developer Berzerk Studio is against fan-games, many people have used Project Arrhythmia's editor to create their own fan-made Just Shapes and Beats levels.
