• Broken Aesop: JumpStart Advanced 1st Grade has a very slight anti-cheating Aesop (i.e. when Frankie says "We'll show Jimmy we don't need to cheat to win"). However, the game centers around using gadgets to improve the characters' scooters, and one reviewer interpreted this as cheating...which would break the Aesop pretty badly, to say the least (especially since the villain Jimmy apparently doesn't add gadgets to his scooter).
• Hilarious in Hindsight: In the 1995 version, one of the Reading Caps you can choose depicts a skeleton wearing blue clothing.
• Memetic Mutation:
  • "Please give me a whole tray of peas."^note The game has an activity in which you serve kids food in the school cafeteria. When you give each child their order, they say "Thank you" and devour all the food in seconds. A clip of one girl asking for, and eating, an entire tray of peas has been reposted multiple times on YouTube starting around mid-2020, likely because it's weird and funny out of context. Incidentally, the clip itself seems to have been taken from a specific Let's Play uploaded to YouTube in 2015, as seen here.
    • Even before that clip went memetic, that minigame was featured in several YouTube videos where people commented on how rude the kids were for not eating at the table.
  • "Oh no, the Glop Monster!"
• Suspiciously Similar Song: The theme song to the 1995 version sounds pretty similar to George Michael's 'Faith'.
• Unintentional Period Piece: The bookshelf story "Congo Safari" refers to "the River Zaire." When the country of Zaire became the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 1997, the name of the river was also changed from Zaire to Congo.
