  • Alternative Character Interpretation: When Deptford Jim was talking to the police and identified Gerry and Paul as the ones responsible for the bombing, was he acting out of spite or did he genuinely believe Gerry and Paul were involved with the IRA and a continuing threat to Britain?
  • Award Snub: Earned seven Academy Award nominations, but ended up losing all categories.
  • Awesome Music:
    • The opening scenes set to "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" by Jimi Hendrix.
    • The bar scene where Gerry and Paul are singing along to "Like a Rolling Stone" by Bob Dylan
    • The opening credits with the original song "In the Name of the Father" by Bono and Gavin Stone.
    • The closing credits with the original song "You Made Me the Thief of Your Heart" performed by SinĂ©ad O'Connor.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Gerry, and the Guildford Four in general.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Tom Wilkinson, in one of his first roles, plays the chief lawyer representing the Crown at the appeal hearing.
  • Tear Jerker: Giuseppe's death. The ensuing tribute to him from the other prisoners is more of a Heart Warming example though.
