- Alternate Character Interpretation: Back when the series aired, some people interpreted that President Hayashimizu's strangely calm demeanor towards Sousuke's misplaced military ways was because he was secretly aware of Mithril and Kaname's nature. The seventh light novel confirmed it.
- Crosses the Line Twice: The second segment for the first episode of Fumoffu, "A Hostage with No Compromises."
- Harsher in Hindsight: The first half of episode 6, involves a man in a pony mask ambushing girls during the dark. He's voiced by Vic Mignogna in the dub. Additionally, one of the girls he goes after is Kyoko, voiced by Monica Rial. After Mignogna's sexual harassment charges, including against Rial, good luck finding this comfortable to watch again.
- Suspiciously Similar Song:
- The ending song of Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu, "Kimi Ni Fuku Kaze" sounds VERY similar to Santana and Michelle Branch's "The Game of Love."
- You can listen to this mashup for yourself.
- "Tokku Yarou" is also used in Fumoffu for the next episode preview. The Second Raid switches it out for "Shissou", a piece suspiciously similar to the theme from Airwolf.
- The instrumental background music on the Fumoffu original DVD menus (with chibi versions of Kaname and Sousuke marching around!) is so similar to the theme for The A-Team that some people have actually looked up whether it was flat-out licensed for use.
- The ending song of Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu, "Kimi Ni Fuku Kaze" sounds VERY similar to Santana and Michelle Branch's "The Game of Love."
- What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?: The show is a light-hearted comedy with a TV-PG rating on both the ADV Films and Funimation DVDs, featuring the adorable mascot character Bonta-kun...completely kid-friendly, right? Except it's a spinoff of Full Metal Panic!, a much more serious mecha anime, and most of the comedy revolves around the main character's difficulty integrating into a modern Japanese high school due to being a Child Soldier. As a result, there's no shortage of violence and crude language, as well as some sexual situations and a whole lot of nudity just barely contained by Scenery Censor in the Hot Springs Episode.
- Woolseyism: The Rugby episode.
