• Broken Aesop: Chris was a victim of a brutal bullying that even the adults and his own mother partook in just for being a freshman. Despite this, the episode portrays him as the one in the wrong for simply wanting to escape this undeserved bullying under the notion that "Running away from your problems won't solve anything", while those who bullied him got absolutely no comeuppance for it.
• Can't Un-Hear It: Fans who've seen Stewie's take on My Left Foot have found it difficult to watch the actual film without hearing him sing.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: During Peter's stint as Sandy Duncan's glass eye, Peter talks her out of getting her favorite cereal and recommends that she get some Boo Berry instead. A much later episode would have Peter meet the mascot of Boo Berry.
• Informed Wrongness: Chris is accused of being a hypocrite when he calls Peter out for using the Natives to escape his problems at home. While Chris is also running away from his problems, said problems arose purely because Chris was a freshman and Lois, who calls Chris out, attracted bullies to Chris for no reason (and right after saying his first day at school will be fine), while Peter's problems at work were his own fault for drinking on the job and getting demoted as a result.
