YMMV / Fairy Gone

  • Awesome Music: One thing that has been near-unanimously praised about the show is its soundtrack, with all 4 openings and endings done by the band (K)NoW_NAME as well as many background songs by them: the series as a whole had a total of seventeen insert songs throughout. The show's non-vocal OST is just as impressive, evoking a sense of action and mysterious fantasy reminiscent of a classic JRPG soundtrack.
  • Growing the Beard: The second half is much more highly regarded than the first half. The show ditches many of the flashbacks that were interspersed everywhere in the first 12 episodes, lending itself to a much more tightly focused narrative, and the Four Lines, All Waiting nature of the story starts coming together as the many various factions chasing the Black Fairy Tome start clashing with each other. In addition, as we've learned pretty much all there is to know about him, Free starts taking a backseat in the main character role while Marlya becomes the one he leans on for emotional support, and showcases how far she's come, going from the bumbling rookie at the start to being experienced enough to defeat a Fairy Soldier on her own.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The banter between Serge and Klara can be funny to see since their dub voices, Micah Solusod and Apphia Yu, are married when the show was broadcast by Funimation.
  • Les Yay: Loads of it between Marlya and Veronica. Every time we see or hear about their childhood, it's evident Veronica was the most important person in Marlya's life. The way Marlya insists on persuading Veronica to give up her revenge and refuses to fight her in spite of her being a criminal now comes across as I Can Change My Beloved, while Veronica is very hesitant to attack her former friend, in spite of otherwise following a Revenge Before Reason mentality. In fact, the relationship between the two reminds a lot of viewers of Naruto and Sasuke, themselves a famous example of the male version of this trope. Taken to new levels in the climax of Episode 14: It has Marlya pinning Veronica to the ground and tearfully answering her statement that she has nothing left but her revenge with "You have me!"
  • Lost in Medias Res: Right off the bat, many characters belonging to several competing factions are dropped with only the bare minimum of context to make any sense of their motivations. Let's just say that the immersion suffers a little bit.
