- Alternative Character Interpretation: Campbell. Was he aware all along about Luke and Emily's relationship and used this to his advantage to choose her over Luke for the promotion in a bid to destroy it? Or did he simply give Emily an example about personal stuff in general and accountability being irrelevant for the firm? If the former proves to be true, then Campbell got what he wanted.
- Catharsis Factor: Luke blowing on Campbell after years of feeling unwanted and considered inefficient at his job is simply something absolutely satisfying to see, but Campbell never getting punished for his actions definitely kills the satisfying part.
- Jerks Are Worse Than Villains: While Emily and Luke commit immoral actions against each other but are nonetheless found somewhat sympathetic because of the crap they have gone through at their company, their boss Campbell and Emily's overbearing mother are the two only characters who are greatly despised. Campbell considers Luke useless for him to work at the firm while Emily's mother unceremoniously throws the engagement party, and stubbornly refuses to call it off when Emily futily and desperately tries to tell her about their situation.
- Just Here for Godzilla: Most viewers choose to watch this movie to see the tremendous performance of Phoebe Dynevor, who gained worldwide recognition for her role in Bridgerton; many viewers were interested to see her take on a darker role here.
- Moral Event Horizon: His erratic abusive behavior accusing Emily of "stealing" the job he deserved was already noticeable, but Luke raping Emily violently becomes the last straw for viewers to decide that he's irredeemable.
- Unintentionally Sympathetic: While Luke's abusive unfair mistreatment of Emily doesn't excuse his anger over being passed up for the promotion he clearly wanted and he definitely loses sympathy after he rapes and physically assaults Emily, many viewers still felt bad for him prior to this, due to Campbell and his co-workers always belittling Luke's skills as an analyst, no matter how hard his efforts are to prove them wrong.
