- Alternate Character Interpretation: Applies to many of the player characters, as well as several of the more notable non-player characters
- One debate stems over whether Darmok is a victim of his own insanity and is ultimately blameless for his actions, or if he's just a morally reprehensible Domestic Abuser.
- Ironhide. Either he's one of the few sane members of the party, if a little coldly pragmatic about the loss of life, whose slavery and mistreatment by mages justifies his anger, or he's an insane jerkass who betrays his party.
- Carter. On the one hand, there's the racism and the whole attempted genocide thing, or he simply wants to bring order to a very chaotic land.
- Malchus. Either he's a jerkass woobie with magnificent bastard tendencies who did what needed to be done, or he's a wangsty twit who blames everyone else for his problems, even after he commits genocide.
- Broken Base: Marcus vs. G3 conflict. Fans were very vocally supporting one or the other side, but almost all felt disappointed with the way it ended.
- Continuity Lockout: With upwards of 200 hours of content, it can be a little daunting for new listeners. Jason has mentioned plans to make it easier now that the Kickstarter succeeded.
- Cliché Storm: Some of the more dramatic characters qualify, especially Malchus.
- Ho Yay: Pre-existing in conflict with the Malchus-Briahna ship, until Una and Brie finally kiss.
- Wangst:
- Malchus is considered a posterboy for this trope, especially after the speech in episode 77. (The claim that his 'greatness' is what isolates him, and not the genocide of the Warforged and the murder of untold non-combatants, really helps power this along.)
- Rodswell is counted as qualifying by a good portion of the fandom, especially after joining the Overwatch due to not "getting the respect he deserves." What he did to actually deserve respect is debatable ...
- Marcus. You would think that maybe after being abandoned by your entire party ... twice, that you might rethink your life. He doesn't. He also doesn't survive the third abandonment.
