YMMV / Dracula (1979)

• Nightmare Fuel: Mina as the Bloofer Lady.
• Retroactive Recognition:
  • Sylvester McCoy is Walter, Dr. Seward's assistant.
  • Annie is played by Janine Duvitski, who would later be best known for playing Jane Edwards in Waiting for God and Pippa Trench in One Foot in the Grave.
• Rooting for the Empire: Dracula is much nicer here than in source material or previous adaptations, while Jonathan is much more obnoxious and dismissive of his fiancé. The outcome is kind of obvious.
• Visual Effects of Awesome:
  • A single shot, not above 1.5 seconds, of Mina driving to Carfax Abbey. The scene is simultaneously panoramic, claustrophobic, naturalistic, and surrealistic.
  • Also, the scene of Lucy entering Carfax Abbey for her dinner with Dracula. The overhead shot is through a spider's web, showing Lucy literally walking into it.
