YMMV / Destroy All Humans! 2: Reprobed

Go To

  • Game-Breaker: For a good while into the game, PK Slam will be far more effective at killing enemies than your actual weaponry. It allows you to hold onto a PK-lifted object instead of throwing it off into the distance and kills most human enemies in one or two hits from whatever you're using as a weapon, can destroy vehicles fairly quickly as well, and doesn't cost you any ammo since all it requires is anything you can lift with psychokinesis, including the humans that are attacking you.
  • Goddamned Boss: Shama Llama summons more backup in his fight compared to the previous game (including soldiers in addition to ninja), but none of them pose any sort of threat to Crypto at the point where the mission is unlocked. The main problem is that he now teleports and runs around a wide area, meaning half the fight is finding out where exactly he went off to so you can disintegrate him for the umpteenth time.
  • Mis-blamed: Some fans accused Black Forest Games of Bowdlerization by cutting the Albion sidemission "Ruined - Take It Like a Man", which was believed to have been cut to avoid accusations of transphobia. However, a Twitter post from Black Forest Games' co-founder Adrian Goersch reveals that the developers agreed to cut the mission due to it being "the most boring mission".
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: The Dislocator being changed to a Hyper-Destructive Bouncing Ball akin to the Superballer from Path of the Furon was widely panned by players of the original game due to being nowhere near as effective (it now needs to lock on and charge before firing for maximum effect) or amusing as its predecessor (which fired discs that would latch onto humans and objects and drag them through the air).
  • That One Attack: Ponsonby's hallucinogenic gas attack. In addition to making it harder to dodge if it hits you by distorting the game speed, it also makes a good chunk of Crypto's weapons impossible to aim.
  • That One Boss:
    • While Agent Oranchov was already a Wake-Up Call Boss in the original, his battle is far more tedious here. His mutant form's acid now splits into three and can wipe off Crypto's health quickly, he moves faster, and the Anal Probe isn't unlocked until after the first stage of his battle. After disinfecting him in the second stage, he will continuously try to re-infect himself, and his gun can hit Crypto hard.
    • Kojira has been considerably bumped up in difficulty as well. You now have to attack her weak point to do any real damage, meaning no more cheesing with Meteor Strike, and her attacks can both decimate Crypto's shields on foot and also convert humans into Blisk Mutants to finish Crypto off once Kojira has weakened him. Kojira will also be laser-focused on killing Crypto and ignores the few military units present, which usually get turned into Mutants anyway. Additionally, one of the fight's bonus objectives is to knock down the buildings in Kojira's path before she gets to destroy them, which can be tough considering how weak your saucer weaponry will be at the time.
  • That One Sidequest: The Arkvoodle Cult quest "Fool the Black Ninja" is made a lot more expansive in this game compared to the original, including a section where you need to traverse an obstacle course above a stretch of water without your jetpack while Black Ninjas attack you. There is an optional objective for this section to finish it without touching the water, which can be quite tough between the tricky jumps and dashes required to navigate the course and the ninjas teleporting in your face when you're trying to make a jump.
