YMMV / Deepest Sword

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The main theme.
  • Alternative Character Interpretation: Is the dragon an arrogant creature who dares you to stab it with your sword or a horny size queen of a beast who wants you to satisfy it? Given the Double Entendre theme of the game, it could easily be the latter.
    • Keep in mind it only attacks you after you stab it and offers no resistance to the titular Deepest Sword- only some apprehension and then a pleasured expression on its face at the ending screen.
    • Going from the above, does it kill you with its fire breath out of sexual frustration alone or because it knows you will come back with bigger and bigger swords until you stab its heart?
  • Better as a Let's Play: Just like Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy its designed to invite you in, but annoy the hell out of you with each and every sword upgrade.
  • Funny Moments: The entire game, really. But the sweet little cat dropping its own Double Entendre in the form of "You came for me!" Crosses the Line Twice for some.
  • It's Hard, So It Sucks!: It's a short game, with a deceptively simple mechanic that makes it fiendishly hard to complete. As your sword gets longer and heavier, it often gets jammed in the dragon's cavern. Sometimes it will flat out refuse to let you move until you let it drag you off the nearest ledge. There's no tutorial, so learning how the sword pivoting mechanic works by Trial-and-Error Gameplay is crucial, but is also a dealbreaker if you can't get to grips with it.
  • It's Short, So It Sucks!: Those gamers who master its difficulty can finish it in just a few minutes, but apart from getting a better time, there's no Replay Value.
  • Popular with Furries: Long the dragon became really popular with scalies due to being a domineering size queen of a giantess.
  • That One Achievement: Getting the "Living Legend" achievement requires you to beat the game under 3 minutes and 30 seconds and is impossible to do if you're unable to master the sword-pole vaulting techniques. Even players who've spent hours grinding this without making errors, can just barely get sub four minutes.
