• Awesome Music: The main theme, Death Valley, Mesa Madness, Monster Mosh, and Babbling 5, to name a few.
• Cant Unhear It: Charles Martinet, voice actor of most of the male characters in Super Mario Bros., voices Fowl Mouth, Flemming and Brian the Brian. You can definitely hear a hint of Wario in his Fowl Mouth voice in particular, and a bit of Luigi in Flemming's.
• Critical Dissonance: The Metacritic averages are 67 (GCN) and 65 (Xbox), and the Metacritic averages on the PS4 version for both critics and users (as of this writing) is 59, but none of this has stopped it from becoming a huge Cult Classic.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: The three most popular characters among fans (other than Violet) seem to be Dominique, Fowl Mouth, and Sinder.
• Fan Nickname: The GameGrumps constantly call Fowl Mouth "Black-and-White Goose".
• It's Short, So It Sucks!: One of the complaints that the critics had about this game was its small amount of tracks and features.
• It's the Same, Now It Sucks!: Fans were disappointed by the lack of new content in the HD remaster. The lack of online play was an especially big point of contention, as some believed the game's general chaotic design would have lent itself very well to it.
• The Scrappy: B.T. Bruno and T. Wrecks are the two least popular characters among fans. B.T. Bruno because he's considered bland and just not that funny compared to everyone else, and T. Wrecks because of his annoying voice and his douchey, bragging personality.
• Squick: Several of the things that Sinder says, such as, "Wanna touch my weasel?" or "Wanna hug my moobs?"
• They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Some who started with the original version felt/feel this way about Overdrive and HD, due to the health bar, the weapons and overall gameplay being rebalanced, and the removal of one-hit kills. But on the bright side, at least you no longer have to worry about instant death from touching the crystals in Lunarchy, or the flames in Shmoe vs. the Volcano.
