Webcomic / Dot X

Go To

Dot X is a webcomic by ComicFury user "Hetreagod," also known as Skyler, based on Sonic Original Characters he and his friends pretended to be as kids. The comic takes place in the outskirts of Mobius City on the planet Hetrea and stars a species known as "Mobians" (as well as an as-of-yet unnamed species). Although some chapters focus on a grand adventure (such as Adventure), the comic is mostly Slice of Life. It can be read here.

Dot X provides examples of:

  • All Just a Dream: "The Wonderful," although whether or not it was also Speedy's dream is left ambiguous.
  • All There in the Manual: The Introduction and character bios contain information not present in the comic.
  • Comically Missing the Point: When Pudding wakes up from her demon-induced nightmare, Paste assumes that the chair she's sleeping in is really uncomfortable.
  • Crapsaccharine World: As cute and charming as Hetrea seems, the Mobians have really gotten the short end of the stick, being the only known species to age via time rather than experience, among other things.
  • Killed Off for Real: Subverted with Hatchet: he's definitely dead, but he comes back immediately as a ghost.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: In "The Ball," Frisky warns everyone that Pudding is possessed by a demon. Meanwhile, Bubbles was unknowingly helping the Demon leave Frisky's castle...until Frisky's warning is broadcast. The Demon reveals that she was only going to kill Bubbles because she couldn't leave behind any witnesses.
    • Speedy interrupts the binding of souls ritual, which leads to the Demon being released in the first place.
  • Rage Against the Heavens: Inverted; the Angels clipped the wings of any Angel who chose to stay on the ground with Mobius, and eventually forced them to live mortal lives.
  • Shout-Out: Multiple to Sonic the Hedgehog, such as a two-tailed fox named "Miles" (later retconned to just "Mi") and the main species' name being "Mobians."
  • Wham Episode: "My Love; My Rival."
    • "The Ball" is also shaping up to be one of these, due to the constant revelations about the characters.
    • The results for the second Dot X survey, in which Gell states that the reason she's in love with Fade is because he, like her, can break the fourth wall.
