Lyzette G is a music nerd who hosts their own show on YouTube. They mainly review pop music, ranging all the way back from the '50s to present-day.

They have five series:

  • Worst/Best Hit Singles of...: A series where Lyz goes though all the bad and good songs a specific year, retro or current, respectively had to offer. To qualify for any of their lists, the song has to have peaked in the Top 40 on Billboard's weekly charts in the given year.
  • Subscriber Special: Where Lyz ranks one hundred songs voted most by their fans.
  • The Last Three Months...: Lyz covers pop songs that were either released or gained traction within the then-previous season. They retired it after the Winter 2021 episode due to general disinterest.
  • Adventures in Coverland: A series covering a particular song and the notable covers it spawned.
  • 45's by Proxy: Lyz brings in their boyfriend, Malcolm, to react to and discuss about various 45's.

Their channel can be found here.

Trope Examples

  • Always Someone Better: While Lyzette doesn't deny Michael Jackson's talents at all, Lyz vastly prefers the music of Michael's sister Janet.
  • Crossover:
    • For the Worst and Best Hit Songs of 1966, Lyz collabed with Sean Fay Wolfe of Diamond Axe Studios Music.
    • They also collaborated with Crow of CawCophony for their Best Hit Songs of 1973 list.
  • Similarly Named Worksinvoked: Invoked in the segment for "Heat Waves" from the Winter 2021 episode of The Last Three Months...; a confused Lyz spends most of it instead discussing about "Heat Wave" by Martha and the Vandellas, before realizing they were talking about the wrong song.
  • Values Resonanceinvoked: Discussed in the #1 segment Best Hit Singles of 1985 when Lyz mentions how the lyrical content about those who desire power and control, while timely during the Cold War era when the song was released, is still relevant today in a world where many politicians and billionaires don't have the best interests for most people.
