  • Creator-Driven Successor: Intentionally made to be one for Banjo-Kazooie, down to name similarity, as Playtonic is largely consisted of former Rare employees. The logo is undoubtedly similar as well.
  • Promoted Fanboy: While they're not specified, it has been mentioned in interviews that some of the people working on the game were fans of the games, and that they bounce ideas off each other.
  • Role-Ending Misdemeanor: Jontron's cameo was removed following his involvement in a controversial political discussion.
  • Schedule Slip: The game was originally slated for an October 2016 release, but got pushed to an April 2017 release date (possibly due to difficulties caused by the Wii U version, which was eventually shelved).
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Early ideas for a protagonist for the game included a tiger and an insect.
    • One platform the game was originally designed for was the Wii U. However, according to Playtonic Games' official blog, this was dropped in favor of a Nintendo Switch port due to unspecified technical issues, most likely due to its low userbase and discontinuation due to the coming of Nintendo Switch.
    • Internet personality and big Banjo-Kazooie fan Jon Jafari was to appear in this game voicing one of the game's minor characters (specifically, the unseen character in the porta-potty). However, after Jafari became embroiled in controversy following statements regarding race, immigration, and nationalism that he made during and after a political debate he participated in on Twitch, Playtonic Games announced that they will remove Jon from the game. That said, while Jon himself found it unfortunate, he understood why he was removed, defended their decision, and wishes Playtonic luck regardless (though certain fans were much less forgiving, to say the least).
