Trivia / Vikings: Valhalla

Go To

  • B-Team Sequel: Vikings showrunner Michael Hirst stepped aside as writer and showrunner in favor of Jeb Stuart for this series. Joan Bergin who did the costumes for the original show stepped away after season 4 and her replacement Susan O'Connor Cave does costumes for Valhalla. On the other hand, the original production designer of the first two seasons, Tom Conroy, returned. Also composer Trevor Morris, cinematographer Peter Robertson as well as original episode directors David Frazee and Steve Saint Leger all return.
  • Channel Hop: Vikings was produced by and aired on The History Channel (Prime Video picked up the second half of the sixth and final season before it aired on the channel). Netflix took over for Valhalla.
  • Fake Nationality:
    • For the Norse: Sam Corlett and Leo Suter, Australian and English, play the role of a Greenlander (Leif Eriksson) and a Norwegian (Harald Sigurdsson), respectively. Frida Gustavsson, a Swede, plays another Greenlander while the danish Asbjørn Krogh Nissen plays a Norwegian jarl.
    • German actress Laura Berlin plays Emma of Normandy.
  • Promoted Fanboy: Danheim's musical tribute piece "Floki's Last Journey" is used as a recurring theme.
  • Recycled Set: The temple of Uppsala in this series was first used as the great hall of Kattegat in Vikings.
  • Real-Life Relative: Magnus (the future Magnus the Good) is played by Stefán Haukur Jóhannesson, the real son of Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson who plays his father Olaf.
  • You Look Familiar:
    • Søren Pilmark (Sweyn Forkbeard), Bosco Hogan (Aethelred), Gavan O'Connor-Duffy (Njall), Karen Connell (Busla), and Rosalie Connerty (Saxon Girl) all appeared in the original show in minor roles. Gavan O'Connor-Duffy even played two (King Frodo and a House-Carl)! And in case you are wondering, in the original series Søren Pilmark played Stender, Bosco Hogan was the abbot of Lindisfarne, Karen Connell was the Angel of Death and Rosalie Connerty played Angrboda. There's also Mark Huberman (Louis in Vikings) as Earl Wulfhere of Sussex here.
    • In the French dub, Adrien Antoine voices Batu. He previously voiced Bishop Heahmund in Vikings.
