Leif Eriksson will convert to Christianity in season 2, which will be a major source of tension between himself and Freydis.
The historic Leif Eriksson was a Christian, who, according to the sagas, converted in Norway, and subsequently led missionary efforts to Greenland, with mixed success. When we meet Leif in season 1, he is a nominal pagan, who nevertheless seems unsatisfied with elements of the old Norse beliefs, and expresses interest in certain Christian ideas, such as the concept of miracles. The writing already seems to be on the wall here, and in season 2 we will likely see him go Christian, which will naturally drive conflict between himself and his sister, who is firmly committed to defending paganism in Scandinavia.
Erik The Red will show up in season 2.
Though never seen in season 1, Erik The Red is frequently mentioned, and his violent reputation causes some trouble for his children Leif and Freydis. It seems likely that he could show up in season 2. Bonus points if he's played by Kristofer Hivju.
