• All-Star Cast: The three main characters of the story are voiced by James McAvoy (the husband), Daisy Ridley (the wife), and Willem Dafoe (the cop).
• Dawson Casting: The man is slightly younger than his wife given that he's the result of the wife's nanny having an affair with her employer and they both appear to be in their twenties. In real life, James McAvoy was born in 1979 and Daisy Ridley was born in 1992, making McAvoy thirteen years older than Ridley and around two decades older than his character.
• Fake American: The married couple are Americans, while James McAvoy is Scottish and Daisy Ridley is English.
• Playing with Character Type: Daisy Ridley tends to play plucky nice girls who retain their morality in spite of tragedy. The Wife plays with this: she appears to be a normal woman - albeit estranged from her father - who adores her husband and is excited to be expecting a child with him. However, she's then accused of murdering her father and despite her initial denials, it turns out she did seemingly kill him out of rage for him having betrayed her mother, though unbeknownst to her she only wounded him and someone else finished the job; it was also more of an Accidental Murder. While not devoid of sympathetic traits, she's a lot darker than some of Ridley's other roles.
