* PlayingWithCharacterType: Daisy Ridley tends to play {{plucky|girl}} {{nice girl}}s who retain their morality in spite of tragedy. The Wife plays with this: she appears to be a normal woman - albeit estranged from her father - who adores her husband and is excited to be expecting a child with him. However, she's then accused of murdering her father [[spoiler:and despite her initial denials, it turns out she ''did'' seemingly kill him out of rage for his having betrayed her mother, though unbeknownst to her she only wounded him and someone else finished the job; it was also more of an AccidentalMurder]]. While not devoid of sympathetic traits, she's a lot darker than some of Ridley's other roles.

* DawsonCasting: The man is slightly younger than his wife [[spoiler:given that he's the result of the wife's nanny having an affair with her employer]] and they both appear to be in their twenties. In real life, James [=McAvoy=] was born in 1979 and Daisy Ridley was born in 1992, making [=McAvoy=] thirteen years ''older'' than Ridley and around two decades older than his character.
