• Acting for Two: Tim Allen plays both the real Santa and the fake toy Santa.
• California Doubling: This time around, the scenes set in Illinois were filmed in British Columbia.
• Edited for Syndication: The Freeform broadcast of the second film has the scene with Toy Santa playing football with the elves removed, and instead cuts to the scene where Charlie is chased by the police officer. This was probably done for time constraints. It has since been reinstated.
• The Other Darrin: In the Italian dub:
  • Teo Bellia voices Scott Calvin instead of Giancarlo Giannini.
  • Fabrizio De Flaviis takes over for Lorenzo De Angelis as Charlie Calvin.
  • Tony Sansone voices Neal Miller instead of Stefano Masciarelli.
• Role Reprise: Returning from The Santa Clause are Tim Allen as Scott Calvin/Santa Claus, Wendy Crewson as Laura Miller, Judge Reinhold as Neil Miller, Eric Lloyd as Charlie Calvin and David Krumholtz as Bernard.
• Sequel Gap: The film came out eight years after the first film's premiere.
• Written-In Infirmity: After horrific skin problems from the prostheses he wore in the first movie, Tim Allen had "desantification" added to the sequel so he could limit his time in the Santa makeup. However, the later addition of a robot Santa meant he had to be in costume even longer than the first movie.
• You Look Familiar: Peter Boyle (Father Time) previously played Mr. Whittle in the first film.
