  • Acting for Two: Peter Cushing plays the Gascony Tax Collector and Louis Hayward’s stand-in for any non-FX shots showing the two brothers together.
  • California Doubling: The 1979 version used Austria for France.
  • Deleted Scene: The US Release of the 1979 version deleted and shortened several scenes:
    • Nude scenes for Ursula Andress (for her character’s sex scenes with Louis) and Sylvia Kristel (for her character’s love scene with Philippe).
    • A Hope Spot of the imprisoned Musketeers making an escape from the Bastille.
    • Philippe and the Musketeers hiding in giant casks in a tavern.
    • Louis explaining to his mistress that he must spare Philippe but hopes he dies soon in the Iron Mask.
    • Fouquet sending a spy to follow Colbert.
    • Fouquet showing Torture devices to the arrested Colbert, such as the Rack.
    • A continuation to Aramis’ death scene, with him pulling a Taking You with Me on his murderer via his Parrying Dagger.
  • Edited for Syndication: The colorized version of the 1939 film edits out several scenes.
  • Role Reprise:
    • In the 1939 version, Nigel de Brulier portrays Cardinal Richelieu. He had previously played the character in The Three Musketeers (1921), The Iron Mask, and The Three Musketeers (1935).
    • The Fifth Musketeer stars Alan Hale Jr. as Porthos. He played Porthos' son in At Sword's Point (1952) and Porthos himself in Lady In The Iron Mask (1952).
    • Cornel Wilde- D'Artagnan in The Fifth Musketeer- played the character's son in At Sword's Point (1952).
    • Zigzagged. Miles Mander- Aramis in the 1939 version- appeared in two film versions of The Three Musketeers: As Louis XIII in the 1935 version, and Cardinal Richelieu in the 1939 version.
  • The Shelf of Movie Languishment: ‘’The Fifth Musketeer’’ was completed in 1977 but released two years later.
