- California Doubling: California stands in for Mexico. In fact the opening shot of Guayjorm is the exact same one used in War of the Colossal Beast.
- Colbert Bump: The film gained some recognition thanks to James Rolfe discussing it on Cinemassacre's Monster Madness series.
- Development Hell: The film was actually made right after King Dinosaur, but didn't get released until a couple of years later.
- Edited for Syndication / Bowdlerize: The scene of the spear going into the cyclops' eye was cut from TV broadcasts. The Warner Archive DVD-R restores it, though.
- What Could Have Been: The film was originally supposed to be distributed by RKO Pictures, but that studio went under prior to its release, forcing the producers to go with Allied Artists instead. Interestingly enough, some poster art and even a few release prints still feature an RKO logo.
