  • Disowned Adaptation:
    • Alex Proyas, who directed the original film, has already voiced his disapproval of the remake despite it not being out yet, stating that the original is inextricable from Brandon Lee's legacy and linking to an article written about the number of dislikes the remake's trailer received on YouTube.
    • Ernie Hudson and Rochelle Davis, who respectively played Albrecht and Sarah in the original, have expressed similar thoughts.
      • Hudson stated that he had not seen the remake's trailer, and that although he has "love and respect" for Bill Skarsgård, he could not imagine any other actor as Eric Draven but Lee, and as a result has not seen any additional Crow films.
      • Davis stated that she would not be watching the remake mostly out of respect for Lee and that she didn't have high hopes for it to begin with, additionally calling on fans of the original to boycott it. She further stated that she did not take issue with Skarsgård as an actor, but hated his "dingy, dirty, grungy" look as Eric so much that her first reaction to pictures of him in costume was "Yuck." She additionally complained about "a lack of diversity" as she believed that "anyone other than a straight white male" would've been a better fit for Eric. However, she supported the additional Race Lift casting of FKA twigs as Shelly Webster, admitted that people would still watch the remake regardless, and found a silver lining in it introducing the story of The Crow to newer generations.
  • Dueling Movies: In essence with Boy Kills World. Both are stylized action films centered on revenge that star Bill Skarsgård; however, whereas Boy Kills World is a tongue-in-cheek, original action movie with a copious amount of Black Comedy and graphic novel influences, The Crow is a serious, darkly-toned action movie based on an actual comic book series.
  • Release Date Change: From June 7, 2024 to August 23 of that year.
