Trivia / Tammy and the T-Rex

Go To

  • Colbert Bump:
    • The film got much wider exposure after it was featured on an episode of Best of the Worst.
    • Many people have discovered and watched the entire film through it playing on a TV in the game High on Life.
  • Dawson Casting: Denise Richards and Paul Walker were in their early twenties playing high-schoolers.
  • Executive Meddling: The film was originally filmed as an R-rated horror-comedy with loads of gore and profanity. However, the director's producer, who lent him the animatronic T-rex, got cold feet because he wanted it to be used in a more family-friendly movie. As such, the gore was cut out and a lot of the language was toned to secure a PG-13 (despite the film retaining a fair amount of sex jokes and content). In other countries like Italy, it was released uncut.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Averted since 2019. The original uncut version of the film was very hard to find, having only been shown in some non-American countries, but it was later restored and re-released courtesy of Vinegar Syndrome.
  • No Budget: The film was made on $1 million. The T-Rex being a prop lent to Stewart Raffill that belonged to a theme park owner.
  • No Stunt Double: Paul Walker did his own stunts during the scene when Billy and his gang chase him down and beat him.
  • Title Confusion: The film was released as Tammy and the T-Rex, but is somehow listed as Tanny and the Teenage T-Rex in the opening credits of the final product. Furthermore, the titular female lead character is listed as “Tanny” in the opening and end credits (suggesting this was how the character was originally named), even though the character is identified as “Tammy” in dialogue.
