Trivia / Tales from the Cryptkeeper

Go To

  • Channel Hop: The first two seasons aired on ABC in the States and YTV in Canada, but the third season jumped to CBS and Teletoon.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: For many years, the show had no official releases and had little (if any) presence on television. The first season, though, was released in 2007 and the second in 2008 (with some re-releases a few years later). Season 3, however, has not been released in its entirety. Only three episodes ("All Booked Up," "Town Gathering," and "Unpopular Mechanics") made it to DVD, on the Stacks of Fear release.
    • This has since been averted as of 2015, with the whole series uploaded to YouTube courtesy of Nelvana themselves. It's also in regular rotation on Pluto TV and is available on iTunes.
  • Recast as a Regular:
    • Elizabeth Hanna voiced bit characters in Season 1 episodes "While the Cat's Away" and "Gorilla's Paw" before being cast as the Old Witch in Season 2.
    • In Season 1, David Hemblen voiced Professor Sanguine in "Fare Tonight" and Gabel in "This Wraps It Up" before being cast as the Vault Keeper, again in Season 2.
  • Role Reprise: The Crypt Keeper is played once again by John Kassir, the actor who played him in the original live-action series.
  • Show Accuracy/Toy Accuracy: The action figures made for this series featured two Crypt Keeper figures that bore more of a resemblance to his live-action counterpart and one figure was even wearing the attire of his comic book counterpart.
  • Un-Canceled: Though it took a four-year hiatus, and the CBS series wasn't exactly well regarded.
  • What Could Have Been: There were plans early on to have the puppet Crypt Keeper host the show, but was scrapped because it would've been too scary for a younger audience, so they decided to animate the Crypt Keeper instead
