Trivia / Star Trek Voyager S 4 E 7 Scientific Method

Go To

  • Accidentally-Correct Writing: In 2003, the first confirmed double pulsar, PSR J0737−3039, was discovered by astronomers.
  • Adaptation Expansion: In a spin-off novel, the young ensign whose death on the bridge pushes Janeway to take her extreme actions is called Roberta Luke. It's revealed she was an agent for Section 31 who was assigned to the ship to hunt the Maquis. She also secretly took on actions to take out Seven of Nine, who she saw as a threat.
  • Method Acting: Kate Mulgrew quit smoking during the filming of this episode, and she was pretty miserable. After 17 hours without a smoke, she used that nicotine fit as a release of fury toward the aliens.
  • Recycled Premise: TNG had a few "aliens doing experiments on the ship's crew For Science!" episodes, such as "Schisms" and "Where Silence Has Lease". This episode is more or less Voyager's take, but with a particular focus on Body Horror.
  • You Look Familiar: Annette Helde, who plays the lead alien Takar, also played Karina in DS9's "Visionary" and an assimilated Enterprise-E crewman in Star Trek: First Contact.
