• Creator Backlash: LeVar Burton reportedly felt this to be the worst episode of Star Trek that he ever directed, while showrunner Brannon Braga admitted that it misfired horribly.
• Recycled Script: The storyline is lifted pretty directly from "Identity Crisis" over on Star Trek: The Next Generation; both episodes feature a planet which infects and transforms anyone who sets foot on it, with the transformed victims having a strong urging to return to their home. Brannon Braga also admitted that the story was an attempt to make a better version of Star Trek: Voyager's "Threshold".
