Trivia / Sonic Omens

Go To

  • Creator Backlash: One of the composers for the game, Techno Cinema, ultimately decided to disassociate from the project entirely due to several reasons, including having their song for the final boss rejected in favor of another, and the toxic work environment in relation to the development of the game.
  • Dear Negative Reader: The development team actually finished the game out of spite against critics, despite them stating that there were no good Sonic games after Sonic Adventure. And that's not going into the multiple occasions where the team attacked people online just for criticizing the game.
"We have finished the project out of spite. The haters failed their mission to cancel us. Game Over. Now we're on the top of the world. Fucking trending all over Twitter."
  • Fake American: Several of the voice actors are Russians attempting American accents and, with a few slips here and there, largely pulling it off. Then there is Shadow...
  • Out of Order: The episodes were developed and released out of chronological order. Episode 3 was released first, with Episode 4 being released a few months later in 2020, and the first two episodes (in chronological order) were released in May 2021. After the first four episodes, however, the last three episodes (5, 6, and 7) were released in chorological order in August 2022.
  • Outdated by Canon:
    • This game plays around with the long-running "two worlds" statement that Iizuka used to justify the absence of humans in recent games, by canonizing the events of Sonic X, and mentioning that both worlds were recently reunited. But TailsTube debunks that by explaining where humans and animals have been the entire time.
    • The game ends with the Chaos Emeralds and Master Emerald being destroyed before the events of Sonic Colors. Even ignoring how this contradicts the DS version of Colors, Sonic Frontiers debunks this; the Chaos Emeralds are part of the game's story, and the Master Emerald is present in the prequel short Divergence. In fact, the "Master Emerald got destroyed" part has been outdated since before Omens was even announced, as it was seen in one piece in the Sonic Forces prequel comic.
  • What Could Have Been: Originally for the final battle, a song simply titled "The Exiled" was meant to be released by the composer Techno Cinema for Bentley Jones to sing to. However, it was turned down due to "Not sounding enough like Bury the Light", with "Weight of the World" by John R1se being used instead. You can listen to the first part of the song here, and the second part here.
