Trivia / Ready or Not (2019)

• Creator Cameo:
  • The writers appear as the hosts of the crossbow-training video.
  • One of the producers plays Mr. Le Bail.
• Dueling Works: Would have been this with The Hunt, a more political/satirical horror film about a group of rich people hunting a young woman. However, with that film pushed back to March 2020 after a pair of back-to-back mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio (as well as mass condemnation from right-wing politicians and commentators, including then-President Donald Trump), and then its ultimate release date falling just a week before the COVID-19 Pandemic led to shutdowns of all theaters, Ready or Not won by default, even discounting its better reviews.
• Enforced Method Acting:
  • Grace's shivering in the photoshoot scenes wasn't performative. In the commentary, Samara Weaving mentioned that it was cold when they were shooting that scene, hence her shivering, but it worked to make her look more convincingly nervous, something Weaving herself admitted.
  • Elyse Levesque (Charity Le Domas) said in the behind-the-scenes of the film that she has no idea how to hold a speargun, and no one told her if she was doing it right or not. Given that all of the Le Domases are supposed to be airheads with no idea what they're doing, not telling her how to hold a speargun was probably the best move.
• Fake American: The entire Le Domas family, other than Adam Brody and Andie MacDowell, are played by Canadian actors and Grace is played by the Australian Samara Weaving.
• Playing Against Type: Melanie Scrofano, who plays the eponymous Action Girl Gunslinger heroine on Wynonna Earp, here plays Emilie, a comically whiny and useless airhead — and one who's specifically the subject of a Running Gag concerning her terrible marksmanship.
• What Could Have Been: In the original draft of the script, Grace died in the end. However, upon reading the script and seeing the overall tone, it was decided that having her live was better.
