  • Dawson Casting: Parker, played by then 19-year-old Corin Nemec, while Mikey was played by 21-year-old Billy Jayne.
  • Dueling Works: With the TV adaptation of Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Both shows premiered just over a week apart from each other and were directly compared by critics, with Parker Lewis usually declared the better show. Parker Lewis ultimately won quite handily, lasting three seasons and generally being well-remembered. The TV Ferris got poor reviews, only lasted 13 episodes, and is largely obscure.
  • Executive Meddling: The show eventually caved into network demands that it tone down its humor, resulting in it becoming more generic and losing its audience.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Shout! Factory released the first two seasons on DVD, but sales were so poor that they stated they would not release season three. Both season 1 and 2 are now out of print, and while volume one can be found relatively cheap, season two was given a much smaller production run and sells for over $100 on the secondary market.
  • The Original Darrin: Mary Ellen Trainor played Judy Lewis in the pilot but was replaced by Anne Bloom when the series went into production. When Bloom left after the first season, Trainor returned to the role for the rest of the series' run.
  • The Other Marty:
    • In the pilot, Martin, Parker and Shelly's father, was played by Sherman Howard. By the time the series was picked up, however, the role was now played by Timothy Stack.
    • Similarly, in the pilot episode, Judy, Parker and Shelly's mother, was played by Mary Ellen Trainor. However, after the series was picked up, the role was now played by Anne Bloom.
