Trivia / New Life SMP

• Approval of God: Many of the creators have added fanart onto the server using custom paintings from the mod-pack.
• The Danza: As standard for a Minecraft SMP, the characters typically share a name with the content creators they're respectively portrayed by. The only known exception in this series is OwengeJuice, who portrays a character named 'Sparrow' instead, but who is still referred to by his content creator counterpart's name by other creator-characters.
• Development Gag: There are a few nods in the mod-pack to mobs which lost the Minecraft Live mob votes:
  • The Chillager origin is based on the Iceologer which lost the 2020 mob vote to the Glow Squid, and is named after a popular Fan Nickname of the initial mob. Similarly, the Copper Golem origin is based on the mob of the same name which lost the 2021 mob vote to the Allay.
  • Some of the mobs which lost the official mob votes have been added into the server using mods. As shown in various episodes, the Great Hunger (2017), the Moobloom (2020), the Glare (2021), and the Copper Golem (2021) all make it into the game through the mod-pack.
    Martyn: (upon seeing a Copper Golem in his 1st episode; laughing) I didn't think you guys made it into the game! Somebody modded in the Copper Golem! Hello, little fella!
  • The buttercups which spawn in-game are also a nod to the Moobloom, as the flower would have been added into the game if the Moobloom won the vote.
• Fake American: A completely unintentional example; the latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates Sparrow travels to in Owen's 1st episode, while intended to be random in production, are actually located somewhere in the state of Colorado, retrospectively making any non-American content creator have characters which live in the U.S.^note Owen's 3rd episode further plays into this, stating the server is located in the "NewLife Region" of Colorado. However, considering Sausage's claim of not remembering much of his life before arriving on the SMP lands, it's entirely viable for the characters played by non-American creators to also be non-Americans, at least not in the sense of being born and/or raised there.
• He Also Did: Scott was responsible for running the Afterlife SMP server, which also relied on the Origins mod. This series is often regarded as the successor series of the ALSMP due to its similar mechanics.
• Real Life Writes the Plot: As Joel states in the 32nd Minecraft Championship, Lizzie is absent for the first two months of the series due to their real-life house undergoing renovations.
• Word of Dante: According to Docm77, one of the Hermits, Scar's origin story is that he fled to make a "New Life" for himself because he was too afraid to face Doc on Hermitcraft after breaking his tunnel bore with Grian. Since Scar doesn't stick around long on New Life in the end, one would suspect he went back home quickly in this interpretation.
• You Might Remember Me from...: Scott, the admin of the server, has gone through several different SMP servers he had participated in, particularly the ones that are roleplay-heavy or heavily modded, but he does not shy away from servers that don't rely on roleplays or rely purely on vanilla content. Many members have participated with him in one server or another for the following:
  • A huge amount of members come from a recently-ended roleplay-heavy server, Empires SMP, where they either participated^note fWhip, Gem, Jimmy, Joel, Joey, Katherine, Lizzie, Pearl, Pixl, Sausage, and Shelby, or appeared as a guest^note Owen briefly appeared when Owen the llama got turned into a human, while Scar is one of the members of the Hermitcraft that crossed over with alongside Pearl, who was part of the Season 1 cast.
  • He and Shubble participated in Origins SMP.
  • In Afterlife SMP, Scott played alongside fWhip, Gem, Joey, Lizzie, Sausage, Oli, Callum, Joel, Jimmy, Shelby, and Meghan.
  • Alongside him are Scar, Pearl, Lizzie, Gem, Martyn, Joel, and Jimmy, who all participated in one season or more in Life SMP.^note Although Gem made a one-off guest appearance in Season 4 before appearing in Season 5.
  • In Rats SMP, Scott played alongside Owen, Lizzie, Oli, Shelby, Jimmy, and Martyn. Krowfang, who voices Owen's introductory segment on "hybrids" and his start/end narration, was also on the SMP.
  • Scott played WitchCraft SMP along with Shelby and Joey. Sausage, Oli, and Lizzie also made guest appearances on the server as well, with Sausage and Oli acting as the hosts for the Goober Games show, while Lizzie appeared as the former Supreme Witch in the finale, when she was brought Back from the Dead.
  • Although it was launched about two months after New Life, Scott is on the Pirates SMP with Owen, Martyn, Oli, Sausage, Scar, Krowfang (who makes a voice cameo in Owen's perspective as Sparrow), and later Seapeekay and Shelby.
  • While Scott only made two brief, voice-only appearances, of which one is non-canonical, Seapeekay was a member of the the Dream SMP.
