Trivia / John Stewart

Go To

  • Acclaimed Flop: His pre-Bombs Away Dream Babies albums were all highly regarded but unsuccessful.
  • Black Sheep Hit: "Gold" was a deliberate attempt to get a hit single by changing his style, and he disowned the song in the later years.
  • Channel Hop: Frequently changed labels early in his career. His first three albums were on Capitol Records (Signals Through the Glass, California Bloodlines, Willard), followed by two on Warner (Bros.) Records (The Lonesome Picker Rides Again, Sunstorm), then three on RCA Records (Cannons in the Rain, The Phoenix Concerts, Wingless Angels) before signing with RSO in 1977.
  • What Could Have Been: Was in the running to play Billy in Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, an experience that inspired his song "Durango".
