Trivia / Jesus Video

Go To

  • California Doubling: Filmed in Morocco, like most non-Israeli movies set in Jerusalem.
  • Completely Different Title:
    • The movie aired as Chasing the Future in France, but was released on video as Jesus Code.
    • The Hunt for the Hidden Relic in the Netherlands and the United States (also Ancient Relic for the video release in the latter).
    • The Jerusalem Enigma in Spain.
    • Looking for an ancient tomb in Russia.
    • Looking for the lost Jesus video in Hungary.
    • The Relic from the Future in Chile.
  • Fake Nationality: The Israeli Sharon and Yehoshua are played by German actors Naike Rivelli and Manou Lubowski.
  • Follow the Leader: Arguably zig-zagged.
    • The mix of sci-fi and classic adventure earned Andreas Eschbach the nickname "the German Michael Crichton". However, Crichton's own take on Time Travel, Timeline, which also begins with evidence of time travel being found in a tomb at an archaeological site, was released one year after Eschbach's novel.
    • The actionized movie adaptation has some loose similarity to Indiana Jones, and the premise at least strongly resembles the 2001 film The Body (Israeli-foreign couple investigating a tomb in Jerusalem that might be linked to Jesus Christ). Of course, Eschbach's novel is from 1998, but The Body is also based on a novel from 1983, and had been in Development Hell for 15 years. Also coincidentally, both Israeli halves of the lead couple are women named Sharon.
    • The movie was aired several times in Spain to capitalize on the frenzy about The Da Vinci Code, though both movie and book predate it. However, The Da Vinci Code is in turn heavily based on Indiana Jones and The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail, which are older (and ultimately draw from much older sources, 30's adventure serials in the first case and 19th century conspiracy theories in the latter).
  • Romance on the Set: Despite playing an unhappy couple, Rivelli and Lubowski ended marrying each other.
