• Dawson Casting: The highschool teenagers are played by actors well into their twenties. Daniel Maslany (Townes) was 29 when the show started.
• Disabled Character, Disabled Actor: Zoe, Townes' girflriend, turns out to have a prosthetic arm as she's an amputee. She's played by Angel Giuffria, who shares her disability, using her actual prosthesis.
• Fake American: Due to the series being filmed in Canada, many of the characters are played by Canadians. This includes Jenna (Sarah Desjardins) and Townes (Daniel Maslany).
• Fake Nationality: Nikolai, a Romanian (who may be a naturalized Canadian), was played by British-born Canadian actor Callum Keith Rennie.
• Sequel Gap: It's more a Soft Reboot than a true sequel, but the show is basically a follow-up from Jumper, previously directed by the showrunner and based on the same book series.
