Trivia / Get Some In!

Go To

  • Billing Displacement: The series' DVD release gave top billing not to Tony Selby but to Robert Lindsay, who had become famous in the intervening years in such series as Citizen Smith and My Family. Tony Selby has likened this to releasing a Sixth Doctor-era Doctor Who DVD with "Starring Tony Selby and Colin Baker" on the cover.
  • Dawson Casting: The National Service recruits were supposed to be about 18 years old, and certainly no older than 21, but when the series began, Robert Lindsay, David Janson, and Brian Pettifer were all around 25 years old, and Karl Howman was also around 25 years old when he took over the role of Jakey for Series 5.
  • The Other Darrin: After the series' cancellation in 1977, Robert Lindsay took the lead role in Citizen Smith. When the series was Un-Cancelled after a campaign by News of the World, the role of Jakey Smith was re-cast with Karl Howman.
  • Post-Script Season: Series 4 ended on a high note with Jakey, Ken, Matthew, and Bruce given a cushy posting to RAF Luqa in Malta, while Marsh received his comeuppance with a demotion to Aircraftman First Class and a posting to an RAF base in snowbound Labrador. However, after the series was Un-Cancelled, all five characters were suddenly recalled to Britain and posted to RAF Druidswater, where they picked up roughly where they left off before Marsh's demotion. The new series was found lacking by both the cast and the audience, and Get Some In! was cancelled for a second and final time in 1978.
