Trivia / Fear & Hunger: Termina

Go To

  • Audience Participation: Miro has run two official audience polls on NPC popularity, influencing which characters would be made playable in the future. Daan and Abella won the first poll, while Tanaka and Pav won the most recent poll.
  • Development Gag: Doppelgängers were put into the game due to testers repeatedly encountering bugs where duplicates of recruited characters appeared. After they made jokes about these duplicates being "Evil doppelgängers", Miro eventually decided to turn them into an Ascended Glitch as actual monsters.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: The Platoon boss enemy, which is present in the White Bunker and in Masochism Mode, was added to the game after its creator, vladstori, won a monster design contest. Its original design can be viewed here.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • This screenshot by Miro made extremely early in development indicates that the game was originally going to be taking place in modern times before being very quickly scrapped and moved to the 1940's.
      • A set of 5 character portraits were later shared for what is ostensibly this modern era given their style of clothing. Levi, Marina, and Karin largely looked the same, but Daan and Olivia had entirely different designs.
    • There's an unused battle sprite for Olivia's doppleganger that has it on a wheelchair like the real Olivia. It's unknown why this was scrapped or what effect it would have in battle. Interestingly, the "wheelchair" appears to be made of a fleshy material.
    • The music for the fight with Rancid the Sergal initially was somewhat different. However, it was considered to be too much of a tonal whiplash, and thus got altered for the final game.
    • Originally, Levi was intended to not be directly named in-game, being simply referred to as Eleven to highlight his insigificance. However, after Miro realized that Stranger Things bet him to the punch in terms of using that name for one of its main protagonists, he instead settled for a name with a similar ring to it, eventually deciding on the name "Levi".
    • One of the sketches for the villagers shows them with more normal faces that have Blood from Every Orifice. This was changed after Miro took inspiration from the paintings of Francis Bacon.
    • It also includes a chainsaw-wielding villager, which didn't make it into the game. However, the Meat Grinder enemy in the final game is similar to the concept, being a half-cocooned man that fights with a modified bench grinder.
    • Miro's initial plan was for a Pacifist Run to be impossible via both Samarie and Pav having Plotline Deaths. Beta tester feedback convinced him to implement ways to have them both survive.
    • Miro had Moonscorched forms conceptualized for both Pav and August, but neither can ever appear in the proper game. He's stated that he prefers, for August, the narrative of him in control of himself to the end, while he's fond of Pav's but finds it much simpler compared to the rest. That said, it's likely both will appear should they ever be Promoted to Playable in a later update.
    • The mask of Rancid the Sergal was initially meant to have actual eyes on it. As it looked rather silly, however, they were changed to painted eyes.
  • Word of God:
    • While Olivia's birth date of December 31st is the only one of the contestants to be explicitly revealed in-game, Miro has given birth dates for both Daan and Pav on Discord and Twitter respectively — Daan's being November 21st and Pav's being December 25th.
    • On March 31, Miro made a tweet that reveals the approximate birthdates corresponding to one's soul, which also reveals 13 more soul types.
  • Write What You Know: The Irrational Obelisk is actually based on a strange art piece Miro saw as a toddler, one that gave him an irrational fear of buttoned shirts. This is presumably also the reason why a decent amount of other enemies wear white buttoned shirts as well.
