  • Dawson Casting: All the actors playing teenagers are in their twenties with Ayo Edebiri and Rachel Sennott both being twenty-eight.
  • Dueling Works: With Red, White & Royal Blue, another famous queer film released in August 2023.
  • Fake American: British actor Nicholas Galitzine plays the All-American jock Jeff.
  • No Export for You:
    • The film is a painful victim of this. It was never theatrically released outside the U.S., and even in its home country, it only received a limited release. It later came out on Prime Video, but only for purchase... and only in North America. Given the popularity of the film on the internet, most fans relied on a seven-gigabyte copy of the film following its digital release.
    • As of October 2023, however, the popularity of the film seems to be changing this. It has gotten an official UK release date (3 November, 2023) and might officially premiere in other territories too.
  • Production Posse: Rachel Sennott, who co-stars in and co-wrote the film with director Emma Seligman, previously appeared as the lead in Seligman's Shiva Baby.
  • Queer Character, Queer Actor:
    • Ayo Edebiri plays Josie, a lesbian, while she is queer herself.
    • Ruby Cruz, who plays lesbian Hazel, identifies as queer.
    • Isabel's actress Havana Rose Liu is openly pansexual, and her character has displayed interest in both men and women, dating Jeff, while also being Josie's love interest and (later) her girlfriend.
    • Rhodes, Josie and PJ's childhood babysitter turned older friend, is a lesbian. Her actress, Punkie Johnson, is openly a lesbian in real life too.
  • Throw It In!:
  • Written by Cast Member: Rachel Sennott, who plays PJ, co-wrote the film.
